African Institute for Sustainable Energy and Systems Analysis (AISESA)

The chair is a member and supporter of AISESA, seeking to enable evidence-based energy system decisions for sustainable development in Africa. AISESA is African-led and African-owned, with a long-term institutionalisation strategy in Africa. It embodies a paradigm shift towards sustainable energy systems analysis that are conceptualised, conducted and implemented by Africans, for Africans. At inception, AISESA featured over 200 dedicated African and international individuals from top African and global energy research institutions covering nearly 30 countries in Africa, with an ambition to grow across Africa. Network members from the Global North operate under a firm principle of solidarity with African leadership.

Climate Compatible Growth

CCG is a £42 million UK government initiative to study green development pathways of low-income and lower-middle income countries. The programme brings together some of the UK’s leading universities including UCL, Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, Strathclyde and the Open University, with the Centre for Global Equality, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Climate Parliament. Philipp Trotter is a Consultant at CCG, focusing on potential green high-impact economic opportunities for low-income countries (e.g. power-to-X, servitisation approaches, energy for productive use) as well as the business models and policy mixes to enable these opportunities.
